Festival2Funky is the largest Black music & arts festival in the East Midlands.

We are excited to announce that we have been awarded funding by Arts Council England to manage and deliver Festival2Funky 2021.

This year’s three-day festival will take place from 28-30 May, innovating across arts & music of Black origin. It will be hosted online, with planned live events at 2Funky Music Café, The 2Funky Lounge & 2Funky Street Kitchen (Leicester).

It will build on the 49K virtual reach in 2020, across spoken word, poetry, rap, singing, turntablism, & dance. Our theme will be ‘Nu Beginnings’ highlighting Black, African & Caribbean artists & audiences in a cultural space that has been reshaped by the global pandemic & #BlackLivesMatter.

The festival caters for different musical interests and ages. Past festivals have featured YolanDa Brown, Big Narstie, DJ Melody Kane, Shezar, Mad Professor & Sir Coxsone, Formation, Natasha Watts, Blak Twang, Akua Naru, and more.

The festival features rap, singing, DJing, and dance. Music genres include grime, house, dub, jungle, UK garage, reggae, funk, gospel, jazz, soul, R&B, bass and drum & bass. This year, we will aim to provide more opportunities for D/deaf, disabled, &
neuro-diverse artists. For more information, please contact [email protected].

Festival2Funky 2021 is supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
