2Funky Arts’ “Leicester’s Best” and “Midlands’ Best” Dance Crew events spanned from 2012 to 2016. Running at top venues such as Athena, De Montfort Hall and the Curve, these events saw crews with the fiercest moves dance it out for a panel of industry insiders and packed audiences. With sought after trophies, cash prizes, and a spot for the best dancers in the audience, these were annual events that saw audiences return year after year.   

With an evening of stunning routines, our annual competitions were repeatedly sold out, and showcased a wealth of dance talent. ‘Best Dance Crew’ events included high energy hip-hop, street and break dance, performed by the most talented non-professional crews from across the city, county and region!

Winners of the competition included Addict, who went on to perform as part of high profile dance shows such as Street Dance (Channel 4), Britain’s Got Talent (ITV) and Got to Dance (Sky1).

2Funky Arts has also run workshop programmes to develop dance skills, including projects funded by BBC Performing Arts Fund and Leicester City Council. as well as groups hosted by Curve Theatre. Projects such as Divercity Dance have showcased Leicester’s finest homegrown dance talent.
