2Funky Arts ran a free enterprise training programme for Leicester based creatives who were at the time not in work. The Artistsí Enterprise project was aimed at artists aged 16 plus who were interested in using their creativity in a future career. Supporting musicians, poets, writers, photographers, film-makers, digital artists, performers and artists, the programme was a great success.
Running between June and August 2010 at 2Funky Artsí Base, the participants learnt about the creative industries from established artists and creative organisations. Guest speakers included Kate Cowan from the LCB Depot, Clare Hudson from Creative Leicestershire, and local artist Bizzi. During the ten week programme the group explored how to develop and promote work, lead workshops in the community and legal issues and options relating to working as an artist.
Individual mentoring was offered to each participant with Deborah Bird, David Walter and Louise Katerega, all experts in their field, guiding the group towards their future goals. Since the programme, many people have set up their own creative business in the City and took on further training to develop their skills and experiences.
