Lyric Lounge Leicester 2010

Lyric Lounge Leicester 2010

Lyric Lounge Leicester 2010 was a fantastic success, held at New Walk Museum from the 30th July to the 1st August. Hundreds of people took part in the happenings, Lyrical Lunchtimes and workshops lead by well known poets such as Jean ‘Binta’ Breeze and John Hegley. Other highlights also included Mark Gwynne Jones and the Psychic bread Band and dance workshops with Louise Katerega.

Over 20 young people attended the ILUVLYRICS workshop and many went on to compete for £100 cash prize in the evening showcase. The prize was deservedly won by Millie Mai (aka Lil Mil) who dazzled the audience with her quick wit and backflip exit!

2Funky Arts managed press coverage, PR and Volunteer co-ordination of the Lyric Lounge and project management of the ILUVLYRICS workshop and showcase. 2Funky Arts also managed press coverage and PR of Lyric Lounge Nottingham and Loughborough.

Lyric Lounge Leicester is part of the ‘Igniting Ambition’ programme. It is artistically directed by Lydia Towsey with patronage from Jean ‘Binta’ Breeze. ‘Lyric Lounge Leicester’ is managed by Writing East Midlands, in association with WORD!
