DJing Workshops with Kid J
Over 12 weeks in early 2010, professional DJ Kid J worked with a group of young people to develop their DJing and turntablism skills, as part of the 2Funky Arts free workshop programme.
The young people really enjoyed the programme, learning how to mix different styles of music and try their hand at Turntablism. One young person was so inspired he saved up to buy decks to practise on at home!
Accommodating different styles and musical preferences, Kid J assisted the young people in making their own mixtape of their favourite songs - a big achievement for young people who had never had the opportunity to try DJing before.
Some of the group demonstrated their newly developed DJing skills at the 2Funky Arts Youth Volunteering Showcase, getting the crowd jumping at the end of the night!
Base workshops are funded by Big Lottery Young People's Fund 2.
