Leicesters Best Dance Crew 2013

Local group TXS have been crowned official winners of Leicester’s Best Dance Crew 2013 – the biggest annual urban dance competition in the city! The Studio 79 crew won the judges over in a powerful routine. Second place went to Influence, of Addict Studios, and third to Artistic Chaos It was a close-run competition, with TXS and Influence splitting the crowd and judges.

Twelve dance crews performed at Curve Theatre on Sunday 17 February 2013, in the sold-out event run by 2Funky Arts. Leicester and Leicestershire’s most talented crews battled it out to win the trophy, as well as a stonking £1000 prize. Dancers performed for a panel of professional judges - Gemma Hoddy (Boadicea), Joseph (QMX) & Mark (Gingerbreadman) They were scored on a range of categories, including synchronicity, musicality and originality. The event also featured a jaw-dropping performance from BASE, last year’s winners, best dancer from the audience and a live p.a. from “Guess Who?”

The competition was a celebration of all the exceptional dance crews in the city and county, particularly those who had previously not had the platform to showcase their ability.  Hip Hop, street dance and breakdance were all high on the agenda.

Previous winners have gone onto perform as part of high profile dance shows such as Street Dance (Channel 4), Britain’s Got Talent (ITV) and Got to Dance (Sky1).
