Words without Weapons Round 3
Between July and September 2012, eleven young people from Leicester took part in workshops at Curve Theatre, with urban artist Bizzi, to explore themes surrounding knife and violent crime and write lyrics with anti-crime messages. This culminated in a Words Without Weapons showcase at Curve Theatre (foyer), on Saturday 22 September 2012. The showcase was open to friends and families of performers, and local music fans, and saw 119 people watch the performance.
Through singing and MCing, young people taking part in Words Without Weapons have explored some of the most relevant, emotive and scary subjects that affect our communities. Words Without Weapons allows young people to explore sensitive themes in a supportive atmosphere. It is being supported by The Home Office Communities Against Guns, Gangs and Knives Fund.
The next round will take place at Curve Theatre in January 2013. Please contact Vijay Mistry on firstname.lastname@example.org to sign up or make a referral.
