2Funky Dance Crew
From January-March 2012, our very own 2Funky Dance Crew took part in an exciting 'Bollywood meets hip-hop' project, funded by BBC Performing Arts Fund. Working with choreographer Gemma La Boca Owen-Ford (Sky 1 Got To Dance Semi-finalist), 29 young people were able to shape their own dance routine, while exploring and combining Bollywood and urban dance styles.
The project was launched with a master class led by internationally renowned hip-hop specialist Brooke Milliner (Streetdance 3D, Funkystylerz). Young people then worked with Gemma on a range of techniques. Workshops culminated in a performance at De Montfort Hall in Leicester, as part of Desi Mastiís young peopleís showcase The Dance of Olympia.
